The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday said the Congress was trying to “connect people with hatred”.

Speaking during the culmination of the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Samanvay Baithak in Raipur, RSS joint secretary Manmohan Vaidya said, “Bharat Jodo Yatra is a good thing but question is, how are they trying to unite the nation? With love or by spreading hatred?”

He added that there was growing support for ‘Hindutva’ in society and “no one can unite the country with hatred and contempt for RSS”.

“Your Baap-Dade (forefathers) did the same, banned us twice for no fault of our own, but we continue to grow,” he added.

The Congress on Monday tweeted a picture of a burning pair of khaki shorts — a part of the RSS uniform earlier — saying, “To free the country from shackles of hate and undo the damage done by BJP-RSS. Step by step, we will reach our goal.” The post was referring to its Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Mr. Vaidya pointed out that Congress had failed to realise that the RSS had changed its uniform years ago and “they still criticise the ganvesh (uniform)”.

At the Samanvay Baithak that started in Raipur on September 10 and was attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and BJP president J.P. Nadda, among others, the organisation pitched for the use of Indian languages in courts so that everyone could read and understand the decisions of courts.

Educational institutions should have courses on Hinduism, RSS office-bearers said.

Talking about the expansion of the RSS, Mr. Vaidya said that nearly 90,000 people had expressed interest in joining the RSS through the organisation’s website in the first eight months of 2022.

“We are getting huge response from the youth of the country who are willing to know RSS and work with it,” he added.
